A farmer’s work is never done. Electric fence time at #StarFieldFarm It’s us against the groundhogs, bunnies, and deer. #summeriscoming

Addendum: We were warned that most critters are smarter than we are. That this fence wouldn’t keep them from eating our garden down to the roots.

Two weeks on, it seems to have dissuaded the groundhogs and the bunnies, so fingers crossed!

It’s hard to appreciate how lovely these alium in bloom are. I like how tall and spindly the stalk is in relation to the little purple puffball on top. #StarFieldFarm

The rain finally stopped, leaving low hanging fog and a hundred shades of green behind. The air is thick with birdsong. I can hear the rush of the brook in the distance. Tomorrow promises sunshine, clear skies, a day to work in the good dirt. #StarFieldFarm

This tree gets to stay alive until we figure out if it’s a kind of wild plum. It’s hanging out next to two plum trees & either it’s a volunteer or it was planted there by the prior owners. This is the first year it flowered. Getting to know the land is one of my joys at #StarFieldFarm Never in my life did I think this city mouse would so love the country.
