Things I’ve learned: peach trees set an enormous quantity of fruit. This means the fruit won’t grow large for our eating purposes and it can stress the trees so they don’t bear yearly. Culling the proto-peaches so the remaining fruit is about 6″ apart gives better and more regular harvests of larger, sweeter peaches. Today was culling day. #StarFieldFarm

Addendum: We were warned that most critters are smarter than we are. That this fence wouldn’t keep them from eating our garden down to the roots.

Two weeks on, it seems to have dissuaded the groundhogs and the bunnies, so fingers crossed!

It’s hard to appreciate how lovely these alium in bloom are. I like how tall and spindly the stalk is in relation to the little purple puffball on top. #StarFieldFarm
